Professor San Ling is also President’s Chair in Mathematical Sciences at NTU Singapore. He was the Founding Head of the Division of Mathematical Sciences in the School of Physical & Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) upon joining NTU Singapore in April 2005. He was, subsequently, the Chair of the SPMS and Dean of the College of Science. Prof. Ling’s research interests are in applications of Algebra and Number Theory. He is VP of the Singapore National Academy of Science and serves on the Management Board of the Institute for Mathematical Sciences at the NUS.

Formerly, Prof. Ling was the President of the Southeast Asian Mathematical Society and the Singapore Mathematical Society.

Prof. Ling received his Bachelor and Master of Arts in Mathematics from the Univ. of Cambridge and his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Univ. of California (Berkeley).
